Disculpar aparece en castellano desde los poemas de Berceo, y el sustantivo disculpa, hacia 1490.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 No se debe confundir disculpar con exculpar, formada con el prefijo ex- \u2018fuera\u2019, \u2018sin\u2019. Disculpar equivale a \u2018perdonar una culpa\u2019; exculpar es \u2018declarar que nunca la hubo\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os se ha extendido la noci\u00f3n de que no se debe decir pedir disculpas, sino ofrecer disculpas. El uso tradicional en castellano registra siempre pedir disculpas, y as\u00ed lo ratifica el diccionario de la Academia.<\/p>\n<p>Entre los numerosos ejemplos literarios de esta expresi\u00f3n, tenemos el trecho siguiente, extra\u00eddo de la novela Amalia, de Jos\u00e9 M\u00e1rmol:<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Y, fiado en esta amistad, es que vengo a pedir al hijo una disculpa.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014\u00bfA m\u00ed, se\u00f1or?
