Algunas teor\u00edas sostienen que se trataba de un observatorio solar o de una escultura para la diosa de la tierra. Los expertos en geomancia reconocen el poderoso campo magn\u00e9tico que envuelve este misterioso lugar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp; La impresionante colina artificial de Silbury Hill, de unos 40 metros de altura y aplanada en la cima, est\u00e1 situada al sur de Avebury. La colina est\u00e1 formada por 339.600 m\u00b3 de tierra apilada y fue erigida en tres fases. La primera se inici\u00f3 hacia 2660 a.C., durante la segunda se construy\u00f3 una espiral de creta que rodea el mont\u00edculo desde el suelo hasta la cima en seis vueltas, y a continuaci\u00f3n, en la \u00faltima fase, esa espiral fue cubierta con grava y tierra para conferir a la colina su caracter\u00edstica forma c\u00f3nica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp; Seg\u00fan una leyenda, aqu\u00ed se encuentra la tumba de la reina olvidada Sil, mientras que otros relatos hablan de la sepultura de un caballero con una armadura dorada y un caballo de oro macizo. Tambi\u00e9n se dice que el diablo pretend\u00eda volcar un saco de tierra sobre la ciudad de Marlborough pero los poderosos sacerdotes de la cercana Avebury lo obligaron a vaciar all\u00ed el saco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp; El erudito William Stukeley escribi\u00f3 que en 1723 se llevaron a cabo unas excavaciones en la cima en las que fueron descubiertos huesos y arreos antiguos. Las excavaciones se repitieron en los a\u00f1os 1776, 1849 y 1967, pero nunca se ha podido descubrir ninguna tumba ni desvelar el significado del t\u00famulo. El arque\u00f3logo Richard Atkinson determin\u00f3 la fecha exacta del inicio de la construcci\u00f3n gracias al m\u00e9todo de radiocarbono (dataci\u00f3n de sustancias org\u00e1nicas mediante determinaci\u00f3n del contenido en carbono radiactivo): la noche del 31 de julio al 1 de agosto del a\u00f1o 2660 a.C., durante la fiesta celta de lugnasadh (tambi\u00e9n llamada \u201cfiesta de las segadoras\u201d), un ritual chaman\u00edstico al aire libre para mujeres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enigmas de la Humanidad \u2013 H.
