No se conocen los motivos de tal actuaci\u00f3n, sobre todo porque no existe ninguna documentaci\u00f3n al respecto. Sin embargo, cabe suponer que esos trabajos eran habituales en un complejo de tales dimensiones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Se supone que la ciudad fue abandonada y los accesos bloqueados, para poder edificar una nueva ciudad sobre suelo firme sin peligro de que se derrumbara. Esta idea ser\u00eda comprensible en tanto que, como demuestran los establos subterr\u00e1neos, los habitantes de Derinkuyu deb\u00edan desempe\u00f1ar ciertas actividades al aire libre si quer\u00edan sobrevivir bajo tierra. El ganado bovino que se criaba en el recinto subterr\u00e1neo ten\u00eda que pastar al aire libre. Ello hace que nos preguntemos \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 un pueblo se tom\u00f3 la molestia de construir una ciudad bajo tierra?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Por lo tanto, se plantean diversos interrogantes que todav\u00eda no han podido ser desvelados: \u00bfcu\u00e1l fue el motivo de la construcci\u00f3n subterr\u00e1nea? \u00bfCu\u00e1l era la identidad del pueblo que edific\u00f3 estos pasadizos y galer\u00edas? Y, por \u00faltimo, \u00bfqu\u00e9 medios se utilizaron para excavar galer\u00edas de casi 20 plantas de profundidad y retirar las piedras?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Los hititas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Seg\u00fan los datos de que se dispone en la actualidad, los hititas proced\u00edan del C\u00e1ucaso, desde donde en el III milenio a.C. emigraron a Anatolia, la parte asi\u00e1tica de la actual Turqu\u00eda, para mezclarse con los hatti, que habitaban all\u00ed. Por motivos que todav\u00eda se ignoran, lograron hacerse con el poder en la regi\u00f3n y levantar un gran imperio, al que perteneci\u00f3 durante un tiempo gran parte de la Siria actual. El Imperio Hitita fue igual de poderoso que Egipto o Babilonia durante casi un milenio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; El declive del gran Imperio Hitita culmin\u00f3 a principios del siglo XII a.C., despu\u00e9s de que la mayor\u00eda de las ciudades hititas quedaran destruidas por incendios o asaltos. Algunas tribus siguieron viviendo en el sur o el este del antiguo Imperio durante unos cuantos siglos m\u00e1s, pero su rastro se pierde en el tiempo.
