Su importancia radica en los siguientes aspectos:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mejora de la capacidad aer\u00f3bica<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; En altura (generalmente entre 1,800 y 3,000 metros sobre el nivel del mar), la menor disponibilidad de ox\u00edgeno estimula la producci\u00f3n de eritropoyetina (EPO), una hormona que aumenta la generaci\u00f3n de gl\u00f3bulos rojos.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Esto mejora el transporte de ox\u00edgeno en la sangre, incrementando la resistencia y el VO\u2082 m\u00e1x (consumo m\u00e1ximo de ox\u00edgeno).<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Adaptaciones fisiol\u00f3gicas beneficiosas<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Aumento de la hemoglobina y hematocrito, lo que favorece el rendimiento en competencias a nivel del mar.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Mejora en la eficiencia cardiorrespiratoria y en la utilizaci\u00f3n del ox\u00edgeno por los m\u00fasculos.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Mayor capilarizaci\u00f3n muscular, facilitando el suministro de nutrientes y ox\u00edgeno.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Preparaci\u00f3n para competencias en altura<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Si una competencia se realiza en altura (ejemplo: Juegos Ol\u00edmpicos de M\u00e9xico 1968), el entrenamiento previo en estas condiciones ayuda a reducir el mal de altura y mejorar el desempe\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Fortalecimiento mental<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; El entrenamiento en condiciones m\u00e1s exigentes (hipoxia) puede mejorar la tolerancia al esfuerzo y la resistencia psicol\u00f3gica del atleta.<\/p>\n<p>Riesgos y consideraciones<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Sobrecarga en el sistema cardiovascular si no hay una adaptaci\u00f3n progresiva.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Posible p\u00e9rdida de masa muscular debido al estr\u00e9s metab\u00f3lico.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Efecto rebote: Las adaptaciones pueden perderse r\u00e1pidamente si no se mantienen.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Conclusi\u00f3n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 El entrenamiento en altura es una herramienta valiosa para deportistas de resistencia, pero debe ser planificado cuidadosamente por especialistas para maximizar sus beneficios y minimizar riesgos.
