El listado de variables que pueden influir en el estado psicol\u00f3gico de los deportistas es extenso, pero para poder trabajar sabiendo cu\u00e1l es el objetivo, es necesario seleccionar y ordenar aquellas que tienen una relaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s directa, y a partir de ah\u00ed, seg\u00fan proceda, considerar otras variables que afecten a las primeras. Por ejemplo: una de las variables principales es el estr\u00e9s; pero a su vez, el estr\u00e9s est\u00e1 afectado por variables como el estilo de afrontamiento del deportista o sus creencias r\u00edgidas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Para optimizar el funcionamiento de los deportistas es necesario conocer cu\u00e1l o cu\u00e1les son las variables prioritarias en cada momento, qu\u00e9 factores ambientales o personales est\u00e1n afectando a esas variables, y qu\u00e9 se puede hacer para gestionarlas en la direcci\u00f3n apropiada. Por ejemplo: para asesorar al entrenador sobre sus mensajes en la charla previa al siguiente desaf\u00edo, el psic\u00f3logo debe valorar qu\u00e9 variable o variables deben ser acentuadas (\u00bfla autoconfianza? \u00bfla cohesi\u00f3n de equipo?) y de qu\u00e9 forma (\u00bfdestacando acciones bien hechas en los entrenamientos de la semana? \u00bfdando instrucciones sobre la comunicaci\u00f3n en el campo?). Otro ejemplo: para ayudar a un deportista que pasa por un mal momento: \u00bfQu\u00e9 variable se debe gestionar? (\u00bfmotivaci\u00f3n? \u00bfautoconfianza?) y \u00bfc\u00f3mo se puede hacer? (\u00bfb\u00fasqueda de nuevos objetivos? \u00bfobjetivos ambiciosos? \u00bfobjetivos realistas?).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Al igual que el preparador f\u00edsico organiza su trabajo seg\u00fan sean las necesidades de variables de funcionamiento f\u00edsico como la resistencia, la velocidad, la fuerza, etc., el psic\u00f3logo debe hacerlo atendiendo a las variables psicol\u00f3gicas relacionadas con el rendimiento. \u00bfCu\u00e1les son estas variables principales?: motivaci\u00f3n, estr\u00e9s (con sus distintas manifestaciones: ansiedad, hostilidad, des\u00e1nimo y agotamiento psicol\u00f3gico), autoconfianza, nivel de activaci\u00f3n, atenci\u00f3n y, en los deportes colectivos y otras situaciones de grupo, la cohesi\u00f3n de equipo. Despu\u00e9s, como variables complementarias que influyen en las principales: la fortaleza mental: incluyendo las creencias y expectativas, y las experiencias pasadas de \u00e9xito\/fracaso (que se relacionan con la autoconfianza); las emociones positivas, (relacionadas con la motivaci\u00f3n); y las emociones negativas (relacionadas con el estr\u00e9s).
