Eran cinco tribus yaganas, cada una de distinta parte, pero due\u00f1as de la misma palabra. Antes que caminara, recorr\u00ed con mi madre hasta el Cabo de Hornos, amarrada a su espalda. Ella part\u00eda conmigo cerro arriba para hacer campamento y comer unos p\u00e1jaros que vuelan sobre el mar y contestan desde su nido en la tierra cuando una persona les silba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Todos me conocen como Rosa, porque as\u00ed me bautizaron los misioneros ingleses. Pero me llamo Lakutaia le kipa. Lakuta es el nombre de un p\u00e1jaro y kipa quiere decir mujer. Cada yag\u00e1n lleva el nombre del lugar en que nace y mi madre me trajo al mundo en Bah\u00eda Lakuta. As\u00ed es nuestra raza: somos nombrados seg\u00fan la tierra que nos recibe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No s\u00e9 cu\u00e1ndo nac\u00ed. Tuvimos papeles, pero andando de un lado para otro, todos los perdimos. Eso s\u00ed, a nadie le falt\u00f3 el bautizo de mister Williams en la misi\u00f3n de Tekenika. All\u00e1 hab\u00eda un asilo donde llevaban a todos los chicos, aunque tuvieran padre o madre. Mi mam\u00e1 me contaba que a las mujeres les ense\u00f1aban a hilar y a tejer y que cuando el trabajo estaba malo les hac\u00edan sacar los puntos para que aprendieran bien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
