Estas haza\u00f1as no son solo victorias; son momentos decisivos que han grabado el nombre de atletas en los anales de la historia. Ya sea batiendo r\u00e9cords aparentemente inquebrantables, superando los l\u00edmites de la resistencia humana o demostrando una destreza inigualable, estos gigantes del deporte han logrado cosas que jam\u00e1s se olvidar\u00e1n.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Babe Didrikson Zaharias<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Babe Didrikson Zaharias (1911-1956) es considerada una de las atletas m\u00e1s vers\u00e1tiles y grandes de la historia del deporte mundial, tanto masculina como femenina. Nacida como Mildred Ella Didrikson, destac\u00f3 en m\u00faltiples disciplinas: atletismo, baloncesto, b\u00e9isbol, golf y muchas m\u00e1s, rompiendo barreras en una \u00e9poca en la que las mujeres enfrentaban fuertes prejuicios en el deporte.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Infancia y apodo<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Naci\u00f3 el 26 de junio de 1911 en Port Arthur, Texas (Estados Unidos), hija de inmigrantes noruegos (su padre era marinero y carpintero, su madre patinadora). La familia se mud\u00f3 a Beaumont cuando ella ten\u00eda cuatro a\u00f1os. Desde ni\u00f1a mostr\u00f3 una energ\u00eda inagotable y talento para el deporte. Jugando b\u00e9isbol en la calle, bateaba tantos home runs que la apodaron &#8220;Babe&#8221;, en referencia a la leyenda Babe Ruth. Ella misma afirmaba que su meta era ser &#8220;la mejor atleta del mundo&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inicios en el deporte: Baloncesto y atletismo<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0En la secundaria de Beaumont destac\u00f3 en varios deportes, pero brill\u00f3 especialmente en baloncesto. Jug\u00f3 para el equipo semi-profesional Golden Cyclones de Dallas (patrocinado por una compa\u00f1\u00eda de seguros), donde fue nombrada All-American en varias ocasiones y ayud\u00f3 a ganar t\u00edtulos nacionales AAU entre 1930 y 1932.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Posteriormente se enfoc\u00f3 en el atletismo. En los Juegos Ol\u00edmpicos de Los \u00c1ngeles 1932, con solo 21 a\u00f1os, compiti\u00f3 en tres eventos (el m\u00e1ximo permitido entonces para mujeres) y logr\u00f3:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oro en lanzamiento de jabalina (r\u00e9cord mundial).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oro en 80 metros vallas (r\u00e9cord mundial).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plata en salto de altura (empat\u00f3 el r\u00e9cord mundial, pero le quitaron el oro por su t\u00e9cnica de salto, considerada irregular en ese momento).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fue la \u00fanica atleta en la historia ol\u00edmpica en ganar medallas individuales en carreras, lanzamientos y saltos. Rompi\u00f3 varios r\u00e9cords mundiales y nacionales en atletismo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Su \u00e9xito la convirti\u00f3 en una figura nacional, aunque enfrent\u00f3 cr\u00edticas sexistas y rumores sobre su g\u00e9nero debido a su fuerza y habilidades &#8220;poco femeninas&#8221; para la \u00e9poca. Ella respond\u00eda con confianza y humor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transici\u00f3n al golf y dominio absoluto<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despu\u00e9s de los Juegos, prob\u00f3 otros deportes (softbol, tenis, nataci\u00f3n, billar, etc.), pero el golf se convirti\u00f3 en su gran pasi\u00f3n. Aprendi\u00f3 el juego y r\u00e1pidamente domin\u00f3:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Gan\u00f3 82 torneos entre amateurs y profesionales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Logr\u00f3 una racha impresionante de 13 victorias consecutivas (ella dec\u00eda 17).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fue la primera estadounidense en ganar el British Women&#8217;s Amateur (1947).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Se convirti\u00f3 en profesional en 1947 y gan\u00f3 10 majors de la LPGA (incluyendo 3 U.S. Women&#8217;s Open).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fue una de las fundadoras de la LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) en 1950, ayudando a profesionalizar y popularizar el golf femenino.
