De hecho, es casi el doble de lo que la ciencia actual dice que se necesita.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0El mito de los 10.000 pasos diarios vino de una campa\u00f1a publicitaria\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">japonesa de los a\u00f1os 60. La empresa Yamasa Clock lanz\u00f3 un pod\u00f3metro llamado Manpo-Kei que significa medidor de 10.000 pasos. Eligieron ese n\u00famero porque para el car\u00e1cter japon\u00e9s 10.000 se parec\u00eda a una persona caminando. No hab\u00eda ni una sola prueba cient\u00edfica detr\u00e1s. Durante d\u00e9cadas todo el mundo acept\u00f3 esa cifra como si fuera algo cient\u00edficamente cierto. Era puro marketing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Los relojes inteligentes, las pulseras de actividad f\u00edsica, las aplicaciones m\u00f3viles, todas ponen como meta 10.000 pasos. Pero estudios recientes de los a\u00f1os 2025 y 2026 dicen algo completamente diferente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Un estudio publicado en julio de 2025 en The Lancet Public Health analiz\u00f3 datos de 160.000 adultos y lleg\u00f3 a una conclusi\u00f3n clar\u00edsima. Caminar 7.000 pasos al d\u00eda, que son alrededor de unos 5 kil\u00f3metros, ya\u00a0 reduce <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">significativamente el riesgo de enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas, deterioro cognitivo y muerte prematura. Las reducciones son impresionantes; enfermedades cardiovasculares en menos un 25%, demencia en menos 38%, diabetes tipo 2 en menos 14%, depresi\u00f3n en menos 22%, c\u00e1ncer en menos 6%, ca\u00eddas en menos 28%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Y lo m\u00e1s importante, es que pasar de 7.000 a 10.000 pasos a\u00f1ade muy pocos beneficios adicionales seg\u00fan este estudio. Es decir, hay un rendimiento decreciente. Los primeros 7.000 pasos aportan la mayor parte de los beneficios de salud. Los siguientes 3.000 pasos otorgan muy poco extra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 Una investigaci\u00f3n de la Universidad de Sydney publicada en mayo de 2025 en National Geographic confirma esto. Si bien dar entre 9.000 y 10.000 pasos diarios reduce el riesgo de muerte en m\u00e1s de un tercio y el riesgo de enfermedad cardiovascular en al menos un 20%, menor cantidad de pasos fueron beneficiosos. De hecho, las personas muy sedentarias empezaron a ver beneficios cardiovasculares a partir de solo 4.300 pasos diarios. En ese mismo estudio se encontr\u00f3 que con alrededor de 6.000 pasos diarios, las personas muy sedentarias obten\u00edan los mismos beneficios que las m\u00e1s activas. Es decir, no se necesita ser un deportista caminando 15.000 pasos diarios para estar sano; con 6.000 a 7.000 pasos ya se logran importantes beneficios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Otro estudio del British Journal of Sports Medicine de 2024 encontr\u00f3 que caminar m\u00e1s de 2.200 pasos al d\u00eda, que son solo 1,5 kil\u00f3metros, ya se asocia con una disminuci\u00f3n en la mortalidad y el riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares y, que entre 6.000 y 7.500 pasos, fueron particularmente beneficiosos para mujeres mayores de 60 a\u00f1os.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Entonces, respondiendo a la pregunta en cuesti\u00f3n: \u00bfCaminar 10 kil\u00f3metros una vez al d\u00eda es suficiente para mantenerse saludable?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0La respuesta es que s\u00ed, totalmente suficiente. Pero es el doble de lo necesario seg\u00fan los estudios m\u00e1s recientes. Con 7.000 pasos, que son aproximadamente 5 kil\u00f3metros, ya se obtienen la mayor parte de los beneficios de salud cardiovascular, mental, metab\u00f3lica y cognitiva. Caminar el doble no lo hace a uno el doble de sano.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex
